When there is not enough acid then the food does not get digested properly and in turn when there is too much then you get acid.

There are a few different causes for acidity such as, refined and fibreless foods; smoking, alcohol in excess, high spicy food, overeating and eating too quickly are some of the causes. There are many home remedies for acidity let’s take a look at a few of them. Some of these home remedies can be done as a preventive measure and some when you are experiencing it:

  • During acidity having milk and/or milk products will really help
  • You will get relief from acidity by sucking a piece of clove, they actually don’t taste that bad
  • Really try to minimize or delete altogether spicy, fried and pickled foods. They are huge contributors to acidity
  • Another home remedies for acidity as well as preventer of acidity is mixing 2 tsp. apple cider vinegar and 2 tsp. honey in a glass of water before meals
  • As we all know water is good for us and we should be drinking 8 glasses a day. Well starting your water intake first thing in the morning is a good preventer of acidity. It is also a good reliever of it as well.
  • Another good home remedy is drinking tea with spearmint or licorice flavors.
  • Early to bed and early to rise…. Is good for many things in our life and controlling acidity is one of them
  • Now this one surprised me but drinking cabbage juice daily will control acidity
  • Always best to try to have your dinner at least 2 hours before going to bed
  • Drinking water with a tsp. of soda is also a good remedy for acidity
  • Ginger is one spice you should try to avoid, it tends to wreak havoc on the tummy and causes acidity

As stated above there are many home remedies for acidity. Which one you use and try will be up to you and your taste. As mentioned as well sometimes it’s better to take something to prevent acidity from happening rather than wait for it to happen and then have to deal with it. By placing close attention to when acidity happens to you, you will more than likely be able to tell which foods give you that.
